Considering that our 'main' striker left half-way through the season and his
replacements didn't arrive until halfway through the season (one of whom
didn't play for a while afterwards) that is hardly that surprising. Don't
get me wrong, I like Kuyt for his work effort and dedication to the team - I
just don't think he is quite good enough in the striker role.

I agree on both points.

Yes, the lack of European fixtures while regrettable, should afford some
opportunity to rest players for the important League games. While we have a
plethora of midfielders and enough cover (though there are questions about
some of the quality of that cover) at the back, I am concerned about the
quality of our back up strike force. I like Kuyt - he works hard and gives
his all for the team, but his all as a striker isn't good enough. And N'Gog
simply isn't good enough - I think we do need another striker.>


Ed, yeah...dodgy old Kuyt was only our top scorer last season, not that he's
a decent striker....
