I think the only ones I would read would tend to be people I found interesting enough such as Kenny, but they would also need to be intelligent enough that their input would be significant even with a ghost writer.
If a player was stupid enough that their only input would basically be posing for the cover pic I just wouldn't bother, there are more than enough high quality writers doing biographies or other books for me to want to read a pretend autobiog.

Agreed it is all greed.
But an autobiography written today by someone like Kenny, or Keegan, or
anyone who 'retired' 20-30 years ago would likely be much more interesting
as they can give some perspective that only the passage of time brings. But
sadly you're right - it's just greed.

You are taking the novel approach that purpose of them is to tell their
story and not to cash in when they are at the height of their fame, hasn't
shrek already had somebody help him with his crayons and colouring in his
autobiography already?
