You need width and pace when you're faced with 11 men parking the proverbial
bus in front of the goal (which Scum did not do against Barca). When that
happens the central areas get crowded and the Messi's of this world who are
capable of getting throught do not grow on trees.

It's a situation we've faced often - at Anfield in particular.

We also need to get the best out of Carroll and a decent crosser will help do
that.

But I'd agree that we do not need an average winger. We've had several of
them. We need a top class wide man
