I don't think it's a matter of being thick or clever, Bill. I think it's his emotional control not his intellect. He's the sort of guy who finds it hard to control them and just snaps. If the "right" circumstances are there, he may well do the same...but I doubt he will get away with it next time. At the very least a none seeing ref will (hopefully) ask his assistant what he (or she!) saw.
I suspect the criticism, oft repeated, that Utd get away with stuff may have a trcikle effect too. With any luck refs will be a bit sticter on them...I'm not holding my breath on that, Bll, before you say....but it is at least possible.
Could be interesting tonight. Lots of quite aggressive players out there with lots of grudges and things to prove.
Here's hoping Chelski, ourselves and Arsenal all beat them!

As I said earlier, I'm amazed that more opposition teams don't try and wind him up. If I was Essien or Ivanovic today, I'd be sniping at him all match...physically and verbally. Might be too early after his latest elbow, but teams should do it.
