While interesting in the abstract, that does seem a somewhat pointlessly
long period to compare over given that the spending is an order of
magnitude greater for both clubs in the 2000s, similarly so for the
mancs in the other article, so it was a good thing that he split it into
decades.
The fairly obvious conclusions from those figures are that if you have a
higher net spend then you tend to win more trophies and that the net
spends of all 3 clubs have clearly been helped in the last few years by
some silly money being spent by real Madrid and man city.
