Getting on Kenny's case is a bit premature. Prior to today, we were joint top of the form table, even though we had two shocking results vs Wigan and West Ham.
To me the problem lies more with the players that are left behind following Alonso, Mascherano and Torres leaving and Gerrard being out...that is, too many ordinary players out there. Today we started with one recognized fullback that lasted all of 10 minutes then we had none. Losing Agger from the centre was a big loss too as the recent record when he has played has been hugely better. Being minus Johnson and Kelly is also a huge loss.
Suarez and Carroll for large parts of the game were stranded up front on their own a la Torres. Suarez is a cracking player but he can't be expected to win games on his own and you can see him getting frustrated already. Even Carroll was frustrated and while I have some reservations about him, I think he needs to be in a side that attacks and supports the strikers more, which we just don't do. Look at the difference at the end when desperation set in....but that's the issue, you need to start like that and assert yourself on the game. Far too often we don't.
