I don't know what the hell Roy thinks he is doing with this constant negativity
about the squad other than using it as an opportunity to get his excuses in
early for poor results.
Can he not imagine the appalling impact his statements must be having on morale?
The non-world class players will be doubting their talents (such as they are!)
The more experienced top players, like Gerrard, must be wondering if they have
the time to hang around through yet another rebuilding process while there are
trophies out there to be won.
I don't think the squad is that bad - although it's been made worse by a couple
of Roy's signings. But I think a top manager like Guus, would have been like a
breath of fresh air to the club, lifted the mood and the players, and got
results whilst quietly tweaking the squad for the better by getting rid of the
dross.
At the moment Roy makes Marko look like a glass half full sort of person and,
after last season, we needed that like a hole in the head.
