The trouble is if you don't defend yourself then you immediately make it look like the accuser[s] is right. I think Rafa sussed G & H out very quickly. Remember the little verbal tirade at the end of the 2007 final? Yes, his persistence eventually cost him his job and probably last season cost us results but the loss in results was as much likely to be that the transfer funds were severely cut back, something I think he saw coming way before the rest of us [which would be obvious I guess].

Rafa left us a far better squad than Houllier [ a man that people would likely think would make a better Director of Football type than Rafa because of his eye for talent, supposedly ] even tough the weakening had started sooner than Rafa's departure because of budget.
