When he got more control at Liverpool he found himself in a situation of having
to operate a transfer policy that ended up in profit which didn't help. In fact
I get the impression he never really knew how much money he had to spend because
funding from sales had a tendency to vanish in the direction of H&G loan repayments.
Furthermore some of the control he wanted extended to the youth set up. We have
yet to see if his influence is going to produce results.
I'm not saying all his dealings were successful. But I don't think you can
properly assess his period "in control" yet
