Assuming that parking restrictions are the same as last season.....
There's parking on or around Fountains Road (between the A567 Stanley Road and
Westminster Road - see Google maps). If you approach and leave Fountains Road
from the Stanley Road end you're less likely to get stuck in traffic. Going to
the match from the city centre you peel off left from Scotland Road onto Stanley
Road shortly after the Wallasey tunnel joins Scotland Road
Some of the parking is residents only but there's generally enough free parking
as well (or on some of the side roads). Occasionally you see the "Mind yer car"
brigade. Just ignore them. They don't tend to pester for the money until after
the game and if you don't pay up they're not going to remember you.
From Fountains Road - it's a straight walk over Westminster Road along the
remainder of Fountains Road, across Walton Road and over waste ground up to
Fountains Close which brings you out at the bottom of Anfield Road (on the A580
Walton Lane). From the map it looks like the roads don't connect. They don't if
you're in a car but they do if you are on foot.
It's a 10-15 minute walk and, more importantly, the parking is away from most of
the traffic jams.
I think Iain may know of some closer spots, but as I say, the closer you park
the longer you can get stuck in traffic.
BTW There may be hold ups on Scotland Road coming away from the match. Last time
I went through the Wallasey tunnel it was down to one lane coming away from
Liverpool - and they appear to organize their road blocks in the tunnel
especially for match days :-(
I'm not going tomorrow (not keen on friendlies, too much to do and happy to give
the non-regulars a chance at a ticket) - so I shall be expecting an EW!
