Let me address each of your points in turn.
If we sign the right 2-3 players then of course we will improve - but will
we improve enough? At the moment, I would say that some of the other teams
are stronger than us. My whole point was that they are not going to stand
still. We will improve in the Summer, but then it is likely that so will
they - though we will be helped by the madness currently going on at
Chelsea.
I would agree that ONE weakness has gone in Roy. In fact I would say that
two weaknesses have gone - as we now appear to have much better owners. But
just replacing Roy with Kenny does not mean that all of our weaknesses have
gone as you imply. I don't buy this media garbage that our squad is
hopeless; but nor am I naive enough to think that everything is perfect.
Losing players like Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, Arbeloa has left our squad
weaker than it used to be.
As I said, I think our rivals will make moves to strengthen in the Summer.
That is not assuming anything - that is common sense.
I said that this was one of the worst winning teams in recent years and I
stand by that. I don't think it is a case that the lower teams have suddenly
drastically improved, just that the level of the top has dropped. After all,
we finished 6th with 14 (yes, 14!) defeats.
Again you are twisting what I said. Our run under Kenny was excellent, but
it has to be taken into context. For that period, in all honesty, the
pressure was off. It quickly became clear that we weren't going to be
relegated and that the CL was just out of reach. My point was that you
assumed that we would automatically carry that run into next season and that
it would last throughout the entire season. It would be nice if it did, but
there's no way of knowing that. We may have an awful pre-season and start
badly - we may just be distinctly average. What I was saying is that to win
the League you need to be consistently good throughout the course of 38
games - not 18 or 20. And next season the pressure is going to be on. If we
can cope with that great - but you just assume we will.

Ed, you seem to be making the assumption that we will not improve by signing
2-3 players this summer and that even if other teams don't sign anyone, they
will be better than us?
Our weakness is gone, the weakness that did not believe either he or the
team was capable of anything other than maybe avoiding relegation - his
forte. You are quite happy to assume based on this past seasons results that
MU, Arsenal, Chelsea etc are either going to be as good or better? You claim
the premier divison was weak, where plenty of others would say it was more
even. I guess we can't have it both ways, on the one hand we complain about
Chelsea and Man City spending mega-millions to be better placed to succeed
and that makes it unfair, but when there is a more level playing field, you
deem the premier division weak?
If our points tally in the last half of the season is no gauge to judge what
may happen next season, why is the points difference between us and the five
teams above a relevant indicator?
Keith
