In fairness, I have not seen any Torres quotes saying "buy big or I am off". He
has stated previously that reinforcements are needed, but it was no more than
what Gerrard has said.

We asked directly about leaving previously, he has always stated he wants to
stay.

I'm reading loads about "he's had promises broken about signing players"
and the like. Ahh, poor guy! The big bad owners told him we sign Snoogy
Dogg, and he didn't arrive, so I'm gonna throw my toys out and move.
He's a professional footballer with a contract for the next 3-4 years.
It doesn't matter if the owners promised him the earth, moon, and stars.
He's a job to do, and should do it.

You don't see Pepe, who's arguably the best 'keeper in the world, coming
out saying "they said they'd sign X, Y, and Z. They haven't, so I'm
off!". You don't see any other player in the squad saying it actually.
