The first game I saw was Leeds at Anfield back in Division 2 promotion season
when I was 10 years old. It was three bob to get in (that's 15p for Ed and co).
I might be wrong, but I don't think there are many kids following Liverpool
today from the money they get delivering the Echo five nights a week?
Then again there ain't too many players on the pitch making twenty quid a week
either. :-/

It seemed expensive to me because it was coming out of pocket money and not a
salary! But I think my first programme in 1973 cost me 5p whereas they're £3
now. Can't remember how much the entrance was.
Like many locals, I did manage to watch both the Blues (for a laugh and some
pre-bitter banter) and Liverpool for a while so I guess it was far more
affordable than today.
