Or more likely he will survive until the end of this season. At which point
Torres will either have gone or be beyond convincing to stay - doubtless
sold off by Roy to Utd for a half-eaten kit-kat and a box of magic
mushrooms.

If Roy stays through January then the squad will have another 4 or 5 pieces
of deadwood brought in at the expense of any remaining good young prospects
we have and we will be back to where we were at the Souness era. Let me
explain what I mean by that: GH and then RB both strengthened the squad
(though arguably neither did that as much as necessary) and Roy Evans was
fortunate to have some good youngsters like Fowler, Owen and McManaman come
through.
