Thanks so much for the article. Would have missed it otherwise.

Bits I like -

** "The team keep the ball more under Benitez and the defensive line is usually pushed
higher up the pitch," added Karlsen, a well-travelled scout and regular columnist for
Calcio Italia magazine.

** "Benitez is a much better trainer than a finder of players. He knows how to design
systems and work with a team. Others might have a better eye for a player, but they
wouldn't know how to train them like Rafa Benitez does.
- Benitez biographer Paco Lloret.

The first bit we all recognise. The 2nd bit was very honest (quite possibly something
Rafa had admitted to his biographer). I always thought this was the primary reason why
we lacked flair in the side.

Having said that, he still brought us Torres, Alonso, Masch, Reina. With Gerrard and
Soto-Skrtel-Agger in CD he gave us a solid spine. Bought Soto and Ngog for less than 2
mil each. Sadly some pundits/ people can only see the negatives.

What was missing was that 2nd line of creative trio in 4231. Because of this failing,
he had no choice but to repeatedly use Gerrard (whose best position is centermid) in
various attacking roles. Not surprised if Gerrard was unhappy, for it went on for too
long.
