Re: [lfc] re: I wonder what Sarah makes of this.......................

I think that's the big concern: if he is still here at January what dross
will he buy.

NESV have made it clear that they aren't going to plough endless funds into
the club and that money must be used wisely - as they have a track record of
doing. Personally, I agree with that approach.

The trouble is that if Roy is given funds I feel entirely confident that he
will blow them on dross - probably shipping out other promising youngsters
in exchange. Then there will be little or no funds left for any replacement.
By then the squad WILL be in such a bad state that it will require long-term
rebuilding that could take years. And what good players we have will go.
Gerard is entering the last phase of his career - as has previously been
said he doesn't have time to hang-around for another rebuilding project.
Reina was signed by Rafa and if he is genuinely unhappy how long is he going
to put up with things? Johnson probably has his England future in the back
of his mind; and I'm sure Cole (who is a good player but needs to play in a
positive-minded side) didn't sign up for hoofball - where his talents are
completly wasted.

And that leaves Torres - a fantastic player who right now needs a good
positive manager to get him back to where he belongs. And earlier poster
said they would be happy if they could get £40m for him. On current form not
a chance. Right now we probably wouldn't be looking at more than £20m. And
as time goes on and the goals dry up further then that is also going to
drop. By which time Roy will doubtless be talking him out of the door in the
same way as he did for Mascherano - where we got absolutely screwed in terms
of the sale price.
