I am a critic of Andy Gray for two reasons, one he was a bluenose and second
I think he often does not give you a true picture on how a team perform.
However today for a long time, he gave a good analysis on our situation on
the pitch on how we have gone from an organised side under Rafa to players
losing complete focus and positional sense on the pitch. A bit controversial
considering at the beginning of the season he thought Hodgson would bring
good defensive organisation to our team as he did with Fulham.

Any way one of short video he played (this was also repeated on MOTD2) for
Blackpool's second goal showed none of our DMs were there or in a position
to tackle. Poulsen was running back, big gap in the middle and plenty of
space for Blackpool players to run into. Andy thought we need to keep the
core players such as Reina, Carragher, Gerrard and Torres. I wouldn't
disagree but wasn't one of the reason that the board brought in Hodgson was
to give some youngsters a better chance in the team? So why wasn't Jack
Robinson, a natural left footer played at LB and Carra into his usual CD
position?>

The theory always sounds good. I bet it does when Woy talks about it!! Sunday we had a back four playing together for the first time (had we ever played johnson/soto/skrtel/carra), under a new manager, with a different tactical approach, and a new DM getting used to his team mates and tactics in a new country. All this complicated by the presence of the other team. Should we be surprised there are mistakes that get punished by the opposition?
