The concerns regarding him tarnishing his reputation if things went
pear-shaped are understandable but it wasn't a case of him being
pushed into it AFAIK. He really wanted the job, and at a time when the
club needed someone like him, who is Liverpool through and through. So
since he was ready to risk tarnishing that awesome reputation I
believe he should have got the chance but alas once again the board
made the wrong (acc. to us) choice. If it was their concern to buy
time and ride the storm Kenny should have been the ideal choice but on
the flip side Kenny might (and I guess) would have turned into the
voice of the thousands on the stands.>
We seem to have fallen between pillar and post. We went from having a board and chairman/owner that were perhaps a bit long in the tooth, but fans at heart. We had Parry, a football man for years and an LFC fan. What they did not show was a sense of the game in 21st century and the way forward in a football environment now immersed in branding and revenue streams. We now have the money men, guys like Purslow, a fan yes, but a money man throughout his career, presumably being a major force in Woy's appointment. Purslow, Ayres etc might know about branding and revenue streams but thus far, have showed little real understanding of the football side. As noted in comments attributed to Rafa recently.
However, that Citeh have announced the biggest loss in Premier League history (not that there is a lot of history) indicates the state of financial affairs in the PL these days. Arsenal's record profits came from revenue gained from property deals.
